Bergplaas Nature Reserve

The Reserve

Bergplaas Nature Reserve is situated in the heart of the South African Karoo, in the Sneeuberg Mountain Range (Eastern Cape). It is approximately 330km northwest of Port Elizabeth, not far from the towns of Nieu Bethesda and Graaff Reinet (see map).

The wild semi-desert is home to a great diversity of flora and fauna. The trails you encounter are made by springbok, wildebeest, zebra and eland. Winters are harsh and beautiful in their solitude. Summer temperatures can vary from lavishly hot to surprisingly cold.

With its 7000 hectares of wilderness at an altitude of 1700m, Bergplaas Nature Reserve has become a beautiful destination for retreats, training courses and healing. At Bergplaas guests can experience the true Spirit of Nature and rediscover its value. The Bergplaas team of experienced wilderness guides, personal coaches and local chefs is equipped to offer in these impressive surroundings, the space, silence and support you need for an intense experience.

We invite you to invest in your personal and professional development and to meet us at Bergplaas Nature Reserve. For more information on Bergplaas activities, please check We invite you.
