Bergplaas Nature Reserve

In the heart of South Africa, high above the ancient plains of the Camdeboo, lies Bergplaas Nature Reserve. With its 7000 hectares of wilderness, Bergplaas offers plains, valleys, mountain streams, 300-million-year-old rocks and an abundance of wild life. At an altitude of around 1700m, it keeps the hidden magic of raw and pure nature.
Bergplaas holds a primal force that is easily forgotten in modern society. Founded by Irene van Lippe-Biesterfeld, Bergplaas Nature Reserve offers the opportunity to meet and rediscover this force. Guests are invited to experience this ‘Spirit of Nature’ and to embed it in their personal and professional development.
This autumn we will start the 'Bergplaas Wilderness Trail'. It offers leaders and decision makers of both profit- and nonprofit organisations a retreat to re-evaluate their personal leadership and to renew it towards a sustainable future. The trail is combined with personal coaching.
We invite you to browse this website if you would like to find out more about this trail and about the other activities at Bergplaas Nature Reserve. Please contact us if you would like to find out more.
"It is an honour and a pleasure for me and the entire Bergplaas Team to share with you the splendour and power of this impressive land and offer you a trail into the Wilderness of Bergplaas. I dare guarantee an experience that you will never forget."
Irene van Lippe-Biesterfeld
